Preston Hiefield III

Preston grew up in Portland, Oregon and began to find his passion for developing communities during the summer months between his college years at the University of Oregon.  He worked for his Uncle Ed Hiefield at Oregon City Plumbing, laying pipe and digging ditches in affordable housing subdivisions. It was here that he learned the value of real labor, and the value of skilled tradesmen and tradeswomen coming together to build a home.

He began his real estate career as a mortgage loan officer with US Bancorp Mortgage, and he would later start a private equity fund for real estate development and construction loans in Oregon and Washington. In 1999 he founded Sierra Capital Trust, Inc., a private real estate lending and development company serving the housing and construction industry. His passion to build affordable housing and to help local builders and homeowners obtain construction financing became well known throughout the Pacific Northwest.

In 2010, Preston and Blu Eden Co-Founder John Gest began looking at innovative solutions to bring affordable housing back to the marketplace, so that people of all ages could afford quality, energy efficient homes. Providing affordable housing to every age group is one of the founding principles of Blu Eden Homes.

After decades of building their own projects of traditional homes, Preston and John realized that traditional construction was not the best solution for affordable housing, and Blu Eden Homes was born! Preston will tell you that his mission everyday is simple: “To ensure that every person of every age has the opportunity to experience the Blu Eden lifestyle of affordable housing.”

Preston loves working with people and building communities. He and his wife Gillian co-founded Mask and Mirror Community Theatre, serving the cities of Tigard and Tualatin. They have raised two boys that have both recently graduated from the University of Oregon.  They reside in the growing hamlet of Tualatin, Oregon.
